Petersburg, Alaska

• Petersburg is a small, vibrant town on the northern tip of Mitkof Island in the Inside Passage. Known for its Norwegian heritage and marine activities, it is located near the summer feeding grounds of hundreds of humpback whales, and is one of the top commercial fishing ports in the country. Before entering the Port of Petersburg boats must navigate the 22-mile Wrangell Narrows, known not only for beautiful scenery, but also as one of the most technical navigated waterways in North America – containing approximately 60 navigation aids throughout. Activities in Petersburg include exploring the scenic waterfront, shopping, hiking and wildlife viewing.

Ketchikan, Alaska

Did you know that Ketchikan was Alaska’s first city? It is also referred to as the Salmon capital of the world. Ketchikan is nestled in the Tongass National Forest and has an approximate population of 14,000 residents. This community has a thriving art sector with many world-renowned artists.

Ketchikan’s museums collect, preserve, interpret and creatively share the history and culture of the region. Local highlights include:

Wrangell, Alaska

Wrangell, Alaska is a small, picturesque town in southeast Alaska known for its natural beauty and Tlingit culture. Home to approximately 2500 people, Wrangell is the only town in the state to have existed under three flags and be ruled by four nations – Tlingit, Russia, England and the United States. Located in the Inside Passage at the mouth of the Stikine River, Wrangell offers many recreational activities such as wildlife viewing, river exploration, Petroglyph Beach State Historic Park and even a 9-hole golf course!
